Great movie, directed by Rob Zombie, but I'm sure you already knew that. One of the best sequels to any movie I've ever seen, and one of the more true to life horror movies. I was really getting tired of all these remakes, I mean, did people just run out of good ideas? I didn't get 2 see this movie right off for some reason or another but I'm glad I finally did. It's not absolutely necessary to see the first movie because this one really stands on it's own, and never really hints to the last movie very much. As far as effects go, there was some slight CG going on but nothing really major. The scenes in the movie fit seamlessly, from what I understand, all the sets on this movie were relatively close together. In the first movie you were really on the victim's side, but this movie really makes you lean toward the side of the Firefly family. Sid Haig(Spaulding), Bill Moseley(Otis), Sherri Moon(Baby), and Matthew McGrory(Tiny) return as the Firefly family along with Leslie Easterbrook who has replaced Karen Black as Mother Firefly and Tyler Mane who is now playing R.J. Firefly. Ken Foree who played Peter in the original "Dawn of the Dead" makes an appearance as Charlie and/or Wolf J. Flywheel and Michael Berryman who played Pluto in the original "The Hills Have Eyes" plays Charlie's friend Clevon. The first gunfight scene was a great opening for this movie, a big improvement over the last film, although the house used in the movie is not the same house from "House of 1000 Corpses," I don't think most people will mind. The soundtrack is incredible, with The Allman Bro's and Lynyrd Skynyrd it really captured the all-american 1970's feel. Dr. Satan made no visible appearance in the movie, although his body is being rolled into an ambulance at one point. I was kind of glad that there was no Dr. Satan crap in the movie, mostly because the last movie made him out to be the star when he only had 2 min's of screen time, and the whole thing never made much sense to me along with the whole Groucho Marx connection. Sure some of the names were from his movies, but I don't think it was really all that necessary. Matthew McGrory (Tiny) died shortly after the filming of "The Devils Rejects," and Dennis Fimple (Grandpa Hugo) died during the filming of "House of 1000 Corpses." So maybe there are some occult dealings related too these films? 1 hour 47 min's of pure sadistic horror, I'll definitely be buying this one soon.
