Before Peter Jackson was making big budget films such as the Lord of the Rings series, he was making Dead Alive. The acting in this movie is by far the cheesiest I've ever seen, period. The blood and claymation make the movie worth seeing, this has to be one of the most over-the-top gorefest's of it's time. The storyline goes, a british fellow is being spied on by his terrible mother while on a date with a tarrot-card-reading young lady. His mother is bitten by a diseased monkey, and proceeds to turn into a zombie. The story goes south when the british fellow attempts to cover up an impending zombie apocolypse by hiding the "infected," still animated, in his basement. The kung-fu priest who "kicks ass for the lord" is worth a laugh.

Stephen King is by far one of the greatest horror writers of the twentieth century. Unfortunately, with the exception of "Pet Sematary," none of the movies based on his books are any good. This abomination is nothing short of above average acting with a poorly executed plotline. The movie uses a visual "library" to portray Jonsey attempting to make mental blocks from "Mr. Gray," the annoying Brit. alien who has possessed him. Needless to say this becomes very confusing for the viewer. In addition, asides and flashbacks were far too abundant for my liking. The military in the movie had many loopholes, like near the end of the movie where Morgan Freedman's character has his battalion taken over by the three-star-General, but is somehow able to get his hands on a helicopter to go after the protagonist. The only good thing I have to give this movie is the special effects, which were indeed very well done. Below average film, above average acting, three stars.

Great movie, directed by Rob Zombie, but I'm sure you already knew that. One of the best sequels to any movie I've ever seen, and one of the more true to life horror movies. I was really getting tired of all these remakes, I mean, did people just run out of good ideas? I didn't get 2 see this movie right off for some reason or another but I'm glad I finally did. It's not absolutely necessary to see the first movie because this one really stands on it's own, and never really hints to the last movie very much. As far as effects go, there was some slight CG going on but nothing really major. The scenes in the movie fit seamlessly, from what I understand, all the sets on this movie were relatively close together. In the first movie you were really on the victim's side, but this movie really makes you lean toward the side of the Firefly family.  Sid Haig(Spaulding), Bill Moseley(Otis), Sherri Moon(Baby), and Matthew McGrory(Tiny) return as the Firefly family along with Leslie Easterbrook who has replaced Karen Black as Mother Firefly and Tyler Mane who is now playing R.J. Firefly. Ken Foree who played Peter in the original "Dawn of the Dead" makes an appearance as Charlie and/or Wolf J. Flywheel and Michael Berryman who played Pluto in the original "The Hills Have Eyes" plays Charlie's friend Clevon. The first gunfight scene was a great opening for this movie, a big improvement over the last film, although the house used in the movie is not the same house from "House of 1000 Corpses," I don't think most people will mind. The soundtrack is incredible, with The Allman Bro's and Lynyrd Skynyrd it really captured the all-american 1970's feel. Dr. Satan made no visible appearance in the movie, although his body is being rolled into an ambulance at one point. I was kind of glad that there was no Dr. Satan crap in the movie, mostly because the last movie made him out to be the star when he only had 2 min's of screen time, and the whole thing never made much sense to me along with the whole Groucho Marx connection. Sure some of the names were from his movies, but I don't think it was really all that necessary. Matthew McGrory (Tiny) died shortly after the filming of "The Devils Rejects," and Dennis Fimple (Grandpa Hugo) died during the filming of "House of 1000 Corpses." So maybe there are some occult dealings related too these films? 1 hour 47 min's of pure sadistic horror, I'll definitely be buying this one soon.

I hated this movie, matrix rip-offs, Sci Fi Original Picture worthy, and all in all a bloated piece of shit. There is actually parts in the movie that show scenes from the original House of The Dead game on Sega. Bullshit, every last bit of it.
